Subject: Important update regarding your Windows Dev Center account

Lifetime Dev Center subscriptions

Starting September 16, 2014, all Windows and Windows Phone developer accounts in Dev Center will transition to a one-time only Dev Center registration fee.

With this change, you will no longer have to pay an annual renewal fee to maintain your Dev Center account.

If you recently received an account renewal notification via email or in your Dev Center dashboard, you can ignore it as it was generated prior to instituting the change.

All current Dev Center accounts will continue, without interruption. For more detail, please refer to today’s announcement for further detail.

Thank you,
The Windows Store team

TLC Reality Documentary on MMA Fighter in KL.

Found this wonderful episode of an MMA fighter who lost… something… while right here in Kuala Lumpur for that match last year.

They got the hospital signs, background and the staff correct. I supposed they filmed some of the re-enactments on location.

But “The Malaysian Enquirer”. Seriously??? Heh heh.

Here it is the entire 41 minute episode (we do have this channel but unsurprisingly not this programme). The topic is tongue in cheek…

Announcing Echelon Malaysia 2014!

Amen and amen! Praise the LORD! Been praying for this to start here and it finally did!

My name is Daryl, from e27. We are announcing Echelon Malaysia 2014 on 25th – 26th November and would like to tell you how you can be a part of this amazing event.

Echelon Malaysia 2014
Echelon, e27's flagship event and Asia's biggest tech start-up conference, will be coming to Kuala Lumpur this November! The 1.5 days conference will be the first of its kind in Malaysia, where international delegates and local stakeholders of the startup ecosystem alike will convene to nurture and engage the growing community by sharing success stories and searching for the brightest tech start-ups in the country.

The startup scene in Malaysia has been boisterous of late, making headlines such as MOL's impending IPO  and JobStreet's Acquisition , as well as the exponential growth in e-commerce. Also, we've been receiving queries regarding the Malaysia tech start-up scene from various stakeholders in the region. However, there's a lack of an inclusive platform for the emerging community to celebrate its milestones, further develop the ecosystem and inspire the next generation of Malaysian entrepreneurs.

Conference Details
– Date: 25th & 26th November 2014
– Location: TM Convention Centre, Jalan Pantai Baharu, 50672 KL
– Event Agenda:
– Conference Talks (Keynotes, Fireside Chats, Panel Discussions)
– Startup Pitching Competition
– Networking Opportunities (Coffee Lounge & Business Matching)
– Workshops

How You Can Participate
As we bring Echelon to Malaysia for the first time, we'd like to personally invite you to join our Echelon family, participating as a speaker, sponsor, partners or pitching start-up. It's time to show the rest of the world, what Malaysia's got.

1. Supporting the Startup Movement
Besides being seen as the pillar of support to Echelon Malaysia, sponsors usually receive substantial branding outreach & thought leadership positioning through the conference, touching ground with influential startups, tech companies & investors. More information about the perks of being a sponsor can be found here . To find out more, contact roy@e27.co

2. Speaking Engagement
Echelon Malaysia 2014 will also feature keynote sessions and panel discussions from both the local and international community. If you have thought leadership or success stories to share, we want your presence on stage! Interested speakers are encouraged to send their bio & proposed topics to roy@e27.co

3. Partner With Us!
Be one of the 50+ media partners or supporting organizations that make up Echelon Malaysia's community! To show our appreciation to partners who help to share Echelon Malaysia to their network & channels, we recognize partners on most of our media collateral & also provide complimentary tickets to these partners. Interested parties, kindly show your interest to brian@e27.co
4. Startup Pitching
Echelon Malaysia 2014 will feature one of the largest pitching stages for selected startups. Startups will first have to pitch their business and innovation at the main conference. Malaysian start-ups are encouraged to submit their interest to participate in this pitching competition to daryl@e27.co

Play an integral role in Malaysia's startup community today!

Honouring God with your Skills & Excellence

  • Skills: The ability to do something well; expertise
  • Excellence: The quality of being outstanding or extremely good
“You are a vessel. Excel in what you do so that people know you are serving a big God”

Finding Your Identity
Who Am I? I am the Ambassador of Christ. The scripture says:

  • You are made in His image and His likeness (Genesis 1:26)
  • You are wonderfully made and created by God. (Psalm 139)
  • God knew you before you were formed in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5)
In short, when He created you, He knows what He wants for you. You are the ambassador of Christ! Always remember that you are a Christian first, [fill in your vocation] next.

The 4Ps of Destiny
Here are the 4Ps that will shape your destiny or calling that God has prepared for you. Some questions to ponder:

  • Purpose – Why am I doing what I’m doing?
  • Passion – What drives me?
  • Potential – Do I have the skill set and strength? How do I expand and build them?
  • Pathway – Is there any avenue I can use to apply all these?
What About Excellence?
God saw that His creation was “very good”! So if we are created in the image of God, shouldn’t we be delivering excellence in what we do as well?
  • It is God’s divine plan for excellence.
  • God puts Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden to work and take good care of it. (Gen 2:15)
  • God’s blessings come in fruitfulness
  • God’s original mandate for mankind was to take dominion over all creation. (Gen 1:28)
“What glory are you bringing to God? When God looks at you, does He see an image of Himself?”
What Went Wrong?
  • Disobedience
  • Sin-Separation
  • Cursed ground – thorn and thistles
  • Painful toil and sweat of your brow
Reconciliation & Restoration
  • God became man. Born to earth, died, resurrected and came to redeem not just your soul, but your work too!
  • Your identity is connected to your work.
  • Read: Galatians 3:13, 2 Corinthians 8:9
Joseph’s Kingdom model of Excellence
If anyone had reason to feel that God had abandoned him, it would be Joseph who was betrayed and sold to slavery by his brothers, falsely accused and casted into prison. But Joseph demonstrated strong faithfulness and obedience. He stood out and delivered quality work and values with God watching over him.

When Joseph was put in the position of authority, he created, gathered and dispensed wealth over Egypt. This influenced the destiny of the people.

Joseph’s purpose was then clarified and redefined – which is for the saving of lives.

“How do you respond in times of trials and when you are put to the test?”

Skills Take Time
Did Joseph gain such skills in a jiffy? I believe not. Joseph knew that he was serving one God. He did everything intentionally. Deliberately. Purposefully. With that, he grew in his skills and continue to practise excellence!

Colossians 3:17
“Whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

“Dreams are sometimes catalyst to your destiny. You will not understand. So connect to God. Persevere. Young people nowadays have no staying power. Because they found no purpose. No identity. Thus, Jesus is our identity. Stay connected to God, everyday.”

Right Place, Right Time

  • God’s word tells us that being faster, stronger and wiser does not automatically make you a winner in life.
  • No, it is actually being at the right place at the right time that causes you to receive blessings.
  • And God, who holds time and change in His hands, is the only one who can put you at the right place at the right time.
Takeaway – Golden Nuggets
  • Be sure of your identity
  • God redeems your soul and work
  • Exercise the 4Ps
  • Give your best to serve the only one – God
  • Let go self-dependence. Let go comfort zones.
  • Let God take control

The NEW Periodic Table Song.

If you remember the original Tom Lehrer song, it was a real edutainment way of memorizing the Periodic Table of The Elements (1960s version). Since then, several other elements have been discovered and I have found this made last year sung to the famous Can Can (Offenbach’s Infernal Gallop) theme (also a favourite)!

Glass Vase Drumming!

Due to a certain situation I am taking it even slower on writing blog posts for now.
In the meantime, I shall try to showcase unbelievable talents that I have found from various sources.

First is this amazing person who uses a normal glass vase as an exotic Middle Eastern / Persian / Indian sounding percussion instrument…

Simply wonderful!

The universal hot crazy matrix.

Sincere apologies for not writing in here for a long time due to some occurrences that have happened.

But here is quite a gem. Guy in a smart casual business attire gives a serious looking but surreal statistical presentation on women…

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Fwd: A Farewell to Orkut

A Farewell to Orkut

After ten years of sparking conversations and forging connections, we have decided that it's time for us to start saying goodbye to Orkut. Over the past decade, YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off, with communities springing up in every corner of the world. Because the growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut's growth, we've decided to focus our energy and resources on making these other social platforms as amazing as possible for everyone who uses them.

We will shut down Orkut on 30 September 2014. Until then, there will be no impact on you, so you may have time to manage the transition. You can export your profile data, community posts and photos using Google Takeout (available until September 2016). We are preserving an archive of all public communities, which will be available online from 30 September 2014. If you don't want your posts or name to be included in the community archive, you can remove Orkut permanently from your Google account. Please visit our Help Centre for any further details.

It's been a great 10 years, and we apologise to those of you still actively using the service. We hope that you will find other online communities to spark more conversations and build even more connections for the next decade and beyond.
